Our History

Dark Phoenix Publishing was founded in 1999 as a Gothic Roleplaying company. We make a variety of LARP (Live Action Roleplaying) games for our G.A.M.E series. Check out our Photos or Favorites for samples of our books!!!
Mission
Our products are "for gamers, by gamers," because, that's what we are. When we write a game, we write it to be fun because, we play them too.
Company Overview
Dark Phoenix Publishing is a roleplaying publisher. Founded in 1999 as Dragon's Eye Entertainment by Mykal Lakim, the company focused on trying to create a fun and entertaining roleplaying game that can be enjoyed by anyone. In 2000, Dark Phoenix Publishing came into being as it's own entity, publishing the roleplaying material. Dragon's Eye Entertainment underwent a company restructuring and beca
me Dragon's Eye Game Studio and works solely on graphic designs and photographs used in the material published by Dark Phoenix. The company is a small, locally owned and operated publishing company, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. With under twenty employees working for the company it is literally for gamers by gamers as the motto says.
Description
Using the themes Conspiratorial Horror/Survival we have always held to the belief of "what if?" In our game books we ask this question countless times. What if the supernatural were real? What if humans and angels could meet and mingle? What if demons escaped Hell? What if everything we were taught to fear were real? We aim to keep our writing style with Gothic Fiction because Gothic Fiction includes terror, mystery and the supernatural as elements within the fiction. We also employ something we like to call Realistic Fiction, which means everything has to be written in a way that it could be realistically possible or it can't happen.
General Information
The company has steadily grown since its creation having as many as 30 Playtesters at a single Playtesting Event and as many as four writers working on material for the game. Mykal Lakim personally oversees all material and all source material acting as Editor over both Dark Phoenix and Dragon's Eye Game Studio.

In 2011 we saw the introduction of John Gerschoffer for the Cthulian G.A.M.E line in
cluding mythic monsters and ancient gods. Jeff Spry came on board to pen Dhampirs and half-breeds and many others have had a hand in development for both creatures and environment. George Romine is one such person who has brought a sense of dread and foreboding to the game introducing an element of "what you shouldn't ever have" in a single creature, smoothing out the game.
